This project aims to provide long-term sustainable employment for remote First Nations communities while preserving the pristine coastal region and its lush biodiversity. This high quality oil is collected via steam distillation by members of the Nuxalk Nation using Western Hemlock bows gathered within their traditional territory on the central coast of British Columbia, a region now referred to as the Great Bear Rainforest.
